Rugby at the heart of the local community

Farnham Rugby Club is a thriving sports club at the heart of the local community. During the season, the club puts out three senior teams and over 500 junior players each week. In the summer the club hosts a mid-week cricket team, the Farnham Knights American Football team and O2 Touch rugby.  This year the club welcomes IFA Fish Financial www.fishfin.co.uk as our new principle sponsorship partner.

The clubhouse and grounds, opened in 2012 by Lord Coe and Jeremy Hunt MP, are recognised as one of the finest amateur rugby venues in the South. The clubhouse is a popular venue for wedding receptions, local school proms, awards dinners and other celebrations. A large, airy, airconditioned space can accommodate up to 150 people seated at tables served from a fully equipped catering-class kitchen and a well-stocked bar.

This space can be dynamically reconfigured into three syndicate rooms each equipped with large projector screens, 42″ TVs, audio and WiFi making it ideal for business meetings and team-building days.  Easy access from the A31 and ample parking make it an attractive venue for companies across the region.

While the rooms can be decorated to mask the fact that guests are in a rugby club, the international shirts of club alumni that hang on the walls are both a testament to the club’s success at producing top class players and, perhaps, a source of motivation for any visitor. They include amongst others 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson, Scotland captain Ryan Wilson, who is in the squad for this year’s World Cup in Japan and Will Trenholm who played for England U18 last season.

After last April’s defeat in the promotional playoff from London South West 2, the 1st XV will be looking to go one step further this season to reach London 1. Farnham plays a fast and expansive style of rugby and offers a fine sporting spectacle with an outstanding view from the clubhouse’ sheltered balcony. It costs nothing to enter the ground to watch. Furthermore, home matches are preceded by a delicious hot lunch which at £15 offers a great opportunity to entertain family, friends and business associates.
